Types of Treatment
Individual
Individual therapy focuses on helping the client understand and resolve underlying issues that contributed to the development of their eating disorder. Through the supportive counseling relationship we understand the purpose that the disordered behavior has served , provide skills to meet those needs in a healthier way, and develop the clients' ability to nurture themselves and their relationship with food.
Group
Group therapy focuses on introducing skills and providing a supportive environment to practice skill development.
Family
Eating disorders often impact the family, so involving the family is an important aspect of their resolution. Family therapy assists the client and family in understanding how the dynamics between them can trigger eating disorder symptoms, how the family can provide support without enabling, and how everyone can grow toward healing and recovery.
